Special Olympics Summer Games

The 2010 Special Olympics Nova Scotia Provincial Summer Games were held at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS June 18-20.  Athletes, coaches and fans from all over the province came together for a weekend of sports, smiles, laughs and of course medals!!

Athletes took part in the sports of Soccer, Bocce, Track and Field, Aquatics and Bowling.  Kings did great this year, winning medals in every event and some athletes winning multiple medals in multiple events.

During the weekend athletes got to relax and let loose!  Saturday night there was a dance, a rock n roll theme, where good times were had by all who attended.  Family, friends, volunteers, and the athletes danced and boogied the night away.  Elvis even made an appearance and sang “Blue Suede Shoes”.  Many of the Kings athletes enjoyed a pizza party following the dance, which is one of the most anticipated events of the weekend.
Another big hit during the weekend was the food.  Whether it was Subway for lunch or the all you can eat buffet in the dining hall, everyone left with their bellies full!!

This year’s Special Olympics Summer Games was a blast had by all, from the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and the fans and we are all looking forward to the next event!!!

Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt!
