HISTORY

CLAS was formed in 1976 as a response to the challenges of de-institutionalization, a movement championed by parents and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.  CLAS began as a volunteer, charitable organization, working with the Nova Scotia Government to provide needed facilities in Kings County.  It was the first association of its kind in the province.  CLAS continues to work towards this goal.
